Every Tool on raatools.net — And Why We Build Them Accessible

If you've ever needed to compress a PDF, format some JSON, or convert an image — and didn't want to sign up for yet another account — that's exactly why raatools.net exists. We offer 40+ free online tools, no login required, all running right in your browser.

But there's something else we care about just as much as the tools themselves: making sure everyone can use them.

Let's take a tour of what's available, and then talk about why accessibility isn't an afterthought for us — it's a core part of how we build.

The Toolbox

Here's a quick rundown of what you'll find on raatools.net, organized by category.

Image tools — Compress, resize, crop, and convert images between formats. Great for getting files ready for the web or shrinking photos before emailing them.

Files & PDF — Merge PDFs, split them, compress them, or encode files to Base64. If you've ever wrestled with a 15 MB PDF attachment, these are for you.

Developer tools — Format JSON, generate UUIDs, test regex patterns, encode URLs, hash strings, parse cron expressions, generate passwords, convert timestamps, and minify code. Basically a Swiss Army knife for anyone who writes code.

Conversion tools — Convert between units, temperatures, currencies, and colors. There's also a QR code generator in here.

Text tools — Count words, change text case, generate lorem ipsum, remove duplicate lines, and preview Markdown. Simple stuff, but you'd be surprised how often you need it.

Math tools — Percentage calculator, age calculator, and a Roman numeral converter. Quick answers without opening a spreadsheet.

Finance tools — Loan calculator, budget planner, depreciation calculator, energy cost estimator, and fuel savings calculator. Handy for everyday money questions.

Communication tools — Translate text to Morse code, Braille, or the NATO phonetic alphabet. These are fun and surprisingly useful.

Internet tools — Look up your IP address or check your browser info. Useful for debugging or just curiosity.

SDR & Radio — MAC address lookup, Bluetooth vendor lookup, and an antenna frequency calculator. A bit more niche, but loved by the people who need them.

Everything runs client-side in your browser, which means your files and data stay on your device. No uploads to our servers, no tracking, no accounts.

Why Accessibility Matters to Us

Here's the thing: building a tool that only works for some people isn't really building a good tool. If someone can't navigate your interface with a keyboard, or can't tell what a button does because there's no label, that's not their problem — it's yours.

At raatools.net, we aim for WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance. That's not a badge we slap on and forget. It's a set of standards that guides how we design and code every tool.

What That Actually Looks Like in Practice

Keyboard navigation works everywhere. Every tool, every button, every menu can be reached and operated without a mouse. Tab through the interface, press Enter to activate, use arrow keys where it makes sense. It all works.

Visible focus indicators. When you're tabbing through the page, you can always see where you are. No invisible focus states, no guessing which element is selected.

Color contrast that meets the bar. We maintain at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio for regular text and 3:1 for larger text and UI components. That applies in both light and dark mode.

Screen reader support. We use semantic HTML — proper headings, landmarks, and labels — so screen readers like VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS can make sense of the page. Buttons have aria-label attributes, navigation uses aria-expanded and aria-haspopup, and decorative icons are hidden with aria-hidden="true".

Dark mode and light mode. The site respects your system preference via prefers-color-scheme, and you can toggle manually too. We also offer a high contrast mode for anyone who needs stronger visual separation.

Reduced motion. If you have prefers-reduced-motion enabled in your system settings, we respect that. Animations and transitions are toned down or removed entirely.

15 languages. The tools are available in English, Norwegian, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Ukrainian, Finnish, Hungarian, Croatian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Dutch, and Swedish. Every page sets the correct lang attribute so assistive technology knows how to pronounce the content.

It's an Ongoing Effort

We're honest about the fact that we're not perfect. Canvas-based image tools (like crop and resize) have limited screen reader support — that's a known limitation we're actively working on. And third-party content like ads may not always meet the same standards we hold ourselves to.

But accessibility isn't a feature you ship once. It's a practice. Every new tool we build goes through accessibility checks, and we keep revisiting existing ones to make them better.

Try It Out

If you haven't explored raatools.net yet, go poke around. Pick a tool, try it out, and if something doesn't work the way you'd expect — especially from an accessibility perspective — we'd love to hear about it.

Good tools should work for everyone. That's what we're building toward.
